eugenio is Eugene Peter Saldanha. As a great grandchild of British and Portuguese colonialism in India his writings are influenced by themes of dualities, dichotomies, miscegenation and collaboration. His family moved to Canada in 1980 where spent most of his formative years. In 1998, Saldanha graduated from the University of Calgary with bachelor degrees in English and Education. Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift, and Charles Dickens are the authors whom Saldanha admires most and considers to be the most influential upon his works. He also holds a Diploma in Financial Planning from Mount Royal University and is currently working on obtaining a Creative Writing Certificate from the University of Calgary.
For well over eighteen years, Saldanha has specialized in teaching English Literature and Canadian History. Over 10,000 students have, in some way, shape or form, been influenced by the teachings of “Mr. S”. In studying and in teaching, Saldanha has come to appreciate the power of the Canadian historical landscape and recognize the shortcomings of historians. Instead of correcting historian accounts or delineating Canadiana, he aims to sensationalize the beauty, majesty, grit, cold and trueness of Canada. Saldanha has captured these elements and brought them to life in his screenplay “Red”: a wonderfully, intertwined account of the Viking sagas and Iroquois legends. His screenplay “Andi” is a gripping Science Fiction rendition of the swashbuckling, Canadian explorer Pierre-Esprit Radisson.
Saldanha’s Tome of Plots shall remain ever-full due to role-playing geek friends. Spanning over a quarter of a century, Saldanha’s Group of Eight has mastered the techniques of spinning plots out of role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Werewolves, Cthulu, Strange and much more. By applying these same techniques and backdrops to the natural plotlines of Canadiana, Saldanha endeavours to bring forth, to the geeks and gamers of the world, all that is Canada!
Saldanha is an active member of the Toastmasters community. In 2016, he was presented with the Rookie of the Year Award for his prowess and performances in club and district competitions.
